The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop-motion animated musical film created by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick. It was released in 1993 by Walt Disney Pictures (under its Touchstone Pictures label at the time).

The movie follows Jack Skellington, the "Pumpkin King" of Halloween Town, a fantasy world based entirely on Halloween. Jack becomes bored with the routine of scaring people and stumbles upon Christmas Town, a bright and joyful place. Fascinated by the idea of Christmas, he decides to take it over—but things don’t go as planned when he tries to put his own spooky spin on the holiday.
